What This Looks Like

Job readiness is everything that happens before you start applying. The workplace skills nobody teaches you explicitly, the confidence that comes from practice, and the habits that make you someone an employer wants to keep.

We do not hand you a workbook and wish you luck. We work alongside you, practising real scenarios, building routines, and figuring out which skills you already have and which ones need work.

Your employment consultant matches the training to the kind of work you want. Getting ready for retail looks different from getting ready for a warehouse, and both look different from office work.

What We Work On

Practical preparation for the real world of work.

  1. Workplace Routines & Punctuality

Building the habits that workplaces rely on. Getting up on time, being ready to go, maintaining consistency across a week.

    In Practice

"7:28, bag packed, lunch sorted, keys in hand. The morning routine is clicking into place. That kind of consistency makes a great impression from day one."

  2. Following Instructions

Breaking down multi-step tasks, writing things down, and building strategies to remember and follow instructions accurately.

    In Practice

"Five steps, written down as they came, worked through in order, each one ticked off. The notebook system is working well. Everything captured, nothing missed."

  3. Personal Presentation

Dressing for work, hygiene expectations, and presenting yourself the way different workplaces expect. No judgement, just honest preparation.

    In Practice

"Dark jeans with the collared shirt for retail, chinos for something more corporate. Three solid outfits from what you already own. You look put together and comfortable. Good combination."

  4. Communication at Work

How to talk to a boss, ask questions without feeling stupid, handle instructions, and deal with coworkers. Practised in real scenarios.

    In Practice

"Alright, I'm the manager and the stockroom is running low. How do you let me know? Have a go. That was clear. Try it once more, a touch slower. See how that landed even better? That's the version you'd use on the floor."

  5. Workplace Safety & Rights

Understanding WHS basics, your rights as an employee, what a fair workplace looks like, and when to speak up.

    In Practice

"That box is too heavy and your supervisor asks you to move it. What would you say? Have a go. That was good. Clear, polite, and you explained why. Knowing when to speak up is a real workplace skill."

  6. Trial Runs & Work Experience

Short placements and trial days where you practise real work in a real environment before committing to a role.

    In Practice

"Two trial shifts and you're grinning. Picked up the scanner on day two and the supervisor mentioned you were quicker than he expected. Monday's the first proper shift. How are you feeling about it?"

Cost & Eligibility

What job readiness support costs, who it is for, and how to begin.

What It Costs

Job readiness support follows the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The cost depends on the type of support and whether it happens on a weekday, evening, or weekend. If you are finishing school, School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) commonly covers this kind of training. Inclusive Employment Australia is a separate government-funded program, and its providers can refer people to us. If none of these apply, job readiness support is available fee-for-service. Cost is always confirmed in writing before support starts.

Am I Eligible?

Job readiness support sits under the NDIS Capacity Building category "Finding & Keeping a Job." If your plan includes this category, you can use it for this support. If you are finishing school, ask about School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES). Inclusive Employment Australia is a separate government-funded program, and its providers can refer people to us, with or without an NDIS plan. A support coordinator can help you check what applies, and job readiness support is also available fee-for-service if you do not have a plan.

Where We Work

We are based in Thomastown and work across Greater Melbourne, including the northern, western, and eastern suburbs, plus parts of regional Victoria for some clients. Practice runs, trial shifts, and work experience placements happen wherever the real workplace is, so we travel to meet you there.

How To Start

Get in touch and tell us a bit about yourself. We will have a quick chat about your goals, work history, and what your plan covers. From there we match you with a worker and book in your first session to start building the skills you need.
